Recently, our classroom transformed into a community of young authors and illustrators! We embarked on an exciting journey to create our very own books!

We began by gathering at circle time to explore the many parts of a book; covers, pages, illustrations, and words. We discussed how authors and illustrators work together to bring stories to life, sparking excitement and curiosity about the book-making process.

With inspiration in hand, the children set off to create their own books. Each child took part in every step: binding the blank books, illustrating their pages, and crafting unique storylines. Some students asked for help writing words, while others practiced copying letters or writing independently. Throughout the process, the classroom buzzed with creativity and collaboration as the children shared ideas, offered suggestions, and built on each other’s stories.

This hands-on project supported a range of developmental skills, including: literacy development, fine motor skills, communication & collaboration, creativity & Storytelling. The pride and excitement on the children’s faces as they completed their books was truly heartwarming. These self-made stories reflect not only their creativity but also their growing confidence as writers and storytellers.
